Due to possible match-fixing and suspicious betting activity, two qualifying matches from the first round of the UEFA Europa Conference League have been reported to the appropriate integrity and regulating agencies.
Armenia's Alashkert defeated Montenegro's Arsenal Tivat 6-1 in the opening game, outscoring them 7-2 overall.
In the second game, Latvia's RFS defeated North Macedonia's Makedonija GP 4-1 for an overall score of 5-1.
Both of these games, which took place on July 20th, included questionable betting patterns.
The betting trends can be reported by an individual, team, or match official, even though there is currently no indication that any one of the individuals involved may be complicit.
According to a statement from the UEFA, "UEFA refrains from commenting on investigations or even the existence of potential investigations into alleged match-fixing in order to not compromise investigation processes."
"UEFA offers a wide range of expertise to its national associations, particularly to its network of Integrity Officers appointed in each national association, with regard to anti-match-fixing activities at the national level."
RFS and Alashkert have both been banned from the competition since the matches were reported.
Latvian RFS responded to the accusations by saying: "Our club always sets the greatest standards, both on and off the pitch.
"The fundamental tenants of integrity define football. On the pitch, we always back everything up.
"The two games we won and advanced to the next round against Makedonija were no different from the rest of our games. All we can say is this.
